I was born in a small mountain village in the Italian Region of Calabria and as a young boy I immigrated to Canada with my family in 1959.
I have been an artist since childhood.
While I did attend some high school art classes, I am mostly a self-taught artist.
I recall that I wanted to continue my art studies but my immigrant family financial situation was difficult so I could not pursue my artistic academic dream.
As a child, I could not afford to buy art books. I would go to the Library and take out several art books at a time. It’s just that I would always forget to return them.
I always remember what my then high school art teacher instilled in me. He said, “Art school can teach you art techniques but it cannot teach you how to be an artist. He said, you either have natural talent and you’re an artist or you’re not.
Since childhood, reading the many books on the Renaissance I was inspired by Raphael, Leonardo and other Renaissance artists. This inspiration is still visible in my Mother and Child and other classical paintings.
As time passed my paintings have also evolved into contemporary expressionism, impressionism and abstract, but always with the classical perfection in mind.
My numerous Shows include Italy, Milano, Rome, and Catanzaro Calabria.
The many Shows in Toronto are too numerous to mention.
My greatest achievement as an artist is that I have one of my paintings, a Mother and Child in the Vatican Collection, the Vatican – Rome.
My corporate clients and private collectors of my paintings are too many to mention. These are just a few high-lites: Julio Iglesias, Placido Domingo, Orfa Harnoy, Prime Minister Jean Chretien, Prime Minster Paul Martin, Italian Prime Minister Julio Andreotti, The Canadian Embassy Rome, The Canadian Consulate Milano , The People’s Republic of China and too many others to mention.
My Corporate, private and local collectors of my work are too many too mention here. I also have created special paintings for wine labels.
In 2016 I was privileged to have been commissioned by the Italian Community in Toronto to create an original painting for the Italian Republic Day in Toronto.
From this painting 5000 collector’s item prints were published.
I am humbled that my reputation as an artist has allowed me to acquire many prestigious past and current Show sponsors.
I was the first artist in Toronto to do live painting performances where I paint a large 5ft x 6 ft. canvas in 15munutes to music. I have had this Performance painting in many prestigious Toronto locations. When I do these live painting performances, I always donate a portion of the sales proceeds to Children’s Charities.
I can continue with many more highlights of my artistic career, but I would prefer to let my paintings speak for me and themselves. I would also be delighted if you could contact me and ask me any questions you may have in regards to my art.
Please enjoy my collection of originals and canvas prints.
Wishing you much continued success in all your endevours.
